TYPES OF ALCOHOL & DRUG TREATMENT COVERED THROUGH CIGNA
Your Cigna insurance plan may cover some of the following addiction treatment services, but it’s best to check with your recovery center and directly with your insurance provider:
Detox Programs: detoxing from alcohol or drugs can be life-threatening. Unassisted withdrawal from some substances can be deadly and, as a result, medical detox programs are available to help reduce the risks of accidental death. Medical attention can help provide oversight to help control, reduce, or eliminate toxic withdrawal symptoms.
Inpatient/Residential Care: addiction treatment offers inpatient refers to onsite or live-in centers that provide substance abuse rehab. Most inpatient programs last 15-90 days, depending on the program you select. It’s important to check with your specific addiction recovery center.
Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP): As a hybrid option, PHP addiction treatment programs provide individuals an opportunity to live at home while receiving treatment for alcohol or drugs either during the day or through evening programs for working professionals.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): Similar to PHP, IOP offers clients the option to receive treatment at set times without having to be present 24/7 at the selected treatment facility. IOP is usually less intensive and considered a step-down from PHP addiction treatment programs.
Outpatient Treatment: Clients who’ve received or graduated from the programs listed above often move to outpatient addiction programs. While living at home, you are provided addiction treatment care for a certain amount of hours each week, depending on your specific situation. Some programs can be tailored to meet your needs.
There may be out-of-pocket expenses for drug and alcohol rehab treatment depending on your specific Cigna plan.
